The Mail…
October 1, 2009Lest you think I’m creative (utterly incorrect), I’m really just a collector of great ideas. I sleep at night by christening this “not reinventing the wheel”.
Well I’ve stumbled on a whole site of great ideas (and products to make it happen) at The Organized Parent.
And I have a whopper of an organizing idea for you! It’s for my nemesis: the mail. I found this in the blog section of the website (you need to dig down to the July 2nd area).
Lucky for me, I legitimately needed my Label maker for this project (silent Yippee!).
First I created files for:
*Bills to Pay – catch-all for bills (as if that wasn’t obvious)
*Action – anything that needs to be done
*Coupons – Bed, Bath & Beyond, Carter’s, grocery store, etc.
*Events – birthday party invites, holiday parties, school events, etc
*To File – paid bills or other papers that need to be moved to permanent files
*A folder for each member of your family as a catch-all
*Any other folders you might need
Next I placed them in this file holder in my central work area of the kitchen.
Then I made a vow to keep them clean, as in, handling the action items, filing on a regular basis, etc.
Now when the mail and other items come, I’m ready!
I hope this works for you too.
