I love the summer – hydrangeas cascading around every corner, dining al fresco,
sailboats idling on the sound, even the days seem to know this is a time to be
savored and hang on until almost nine.
My children are almost done with school and although this sends me
frantically rushing about town getting in some last minute errands
that will be so much easier done alone; I am looking forward to a more
relaxed pace. Here is a list of what I am most excited about:
that will be so much easier done alone; I am looking forward to a more
relaxed pace. Here is a list of what I am most excited about:
- Our annual and local island camping excursion with friends
- Firework displays!
- Flowers, flowers everywhere
- Watching the sun set over the bay
- Collecting sea shells and sea glass with my children
- Sandy picnics at the beach
- Beach bbq’s with friends
- Making smores
- Butterflies hovering about my garden
- Watching my children catch fireflies
- Sundresses
- Sitting on the front porch watching a thunderstorm
- Outdoor concerts
- And did I say fireworks?!
Your turn! What are you most excited about?

on June 18, 2012 12:55 pmI LOVE summer. I put the babies to bed right before dusk and I think this schedule might be making miss the lightning bugs. I think the thing that makes these days so magical is the vivid memories that accompany them. I was in our back yard the other day mulling over the fact that summer was almost here and how happy it made me. At that moment I looked down and saw a dead leaf laying on the ground(surely, in retrospect, picked a while ago by my babies). For a split second I had a moment of horror when I thought summer was gone and Fall was almost here. I laughed at the rediculousness of it- but it gave me a moment of clarity of how much I love long summer days and all that comes with it. For me right now, my babies are little. All winter I was up long before the sun. It brings me joy that the sun is up long before I am at the exact same time. I loooove the change of season but summer is by far my favorite, ironically, followed by Fall. 😉

on June 18, 2012 3:54 pmLove fall too – crisp nights and the fall foilage what can compete with that! I love the pace of the summer and the long easy days. I hear you Anne – love rising with the sun, instead of the dark of winter. Although there is something very cozy about that….
