The Creative Corner, revamped…
August 1, 2009Here’s the creative mecca of our home. In the kitchen, directly next to the pantry, and probably intended to be a desk and cookbook storage area.
Today it started like this:
Messy and disorganized!
So I decided to force myself to clean it out and up and take you along kicking and screaming during the process.
So I started with painting supplies, way up on the tip-tip top because I don’t want a 4-year-old adorable painting without me. (Never mind the cereal boxes, they’re still there.)
This little Sterilite bin is perfect for holding the paint pots, brushes and smocks (those are the blue things). I put the big box of paints in another closet – this is coveted space here.
Then I tackled this middle area clutter:
In these two shelves are the meat of our crafting: our Fun Box, Playdough (with baking mat so it doesn’t take the finish off our table), regular sticker box, Foam sticker box, big coloring books, 2 containers of regular-sized coloring books, crayons, and other little treasures that are fun.
I pulled out all the coloring books that were colored, some of the egg crates (I kept the stryofoam ones – they’re the best for pipe cleaners), and other odds and ends that weren’t necessary.
Big coloring books are great fun, but please someone illuminate me on how to store them. I know you have some good ideas out there!
I, Heidi Farmer, vow to not purchase ANY more sticker books. Not one single one. (I even found 3 more after this photo.)
This was the pile of rubbish I was able to purge from our house. Best to do it at bedtime, the eldest adorable was a wee bit traumatized.
Voila! Never mind the bottle of Martinelli’s – I forgot to get it out of there for the photo.
A great book of ideas for keeping your toddler busy and happy:
