The Circus Came to Town (& Free Ticket)

Last week the Abou Ben Adhem Shriner Circus came to town!

My girls are 11 and 12 and we have never taken them to the circus. I don’t even remember ever going to the circus, although my husband claims we have been (although he can’t give me any details of when or where we went, so I’m still suspicious I’ve ever been!)

My neighbor invited us to join them in a suite she had access too, so we let the girls invite a few friends and we enjoyed the circus in high-class style! 🙂

As I was watching all the different acts at the circus, I wondered how many hours, months, years, these performers have put into practicing. Practicing towards perfection on so many things I will never attempt in my life. What, and who, inspired them to reach for this amazing-ness? Who took them to hours of practices, bought them what they needed, who cheered them and supported their journey?

I hope they know how much I admire their bravery, their skills, their determination and their gift of entertaining! From guy doing push-ups while jump roping, to the lady swinging on a trapeze by her neck, to the dude balancing a giant pot on his head, to the man standing face to face with a tiger… and so much more!

I hope that as a mom, I can inspire my kids to follow their dreams, whatever they may be! I hope taking them to experiences like this inspires their creativity and pushes the limits of their thinking, as to the possibilities of what is out there! (Although I really hope I never get a phone call that says, “Mom, I ran off and joined the cirucs!” 😉 )

(Unfortunately, in the midst of moving and struggling with postpartum depression, I totally forgot to get my 2nd daughter her free circus ticket! #oops)
