Sunday Movie Night
January 9, 2010The Running Man had a tradition growing up that we’ve carried over into our family:
Sunday Movie Night with a Coffee Table Picnic Dinner.
We’ve eaten our way through all the classics: Sound of Music, Jungle Book, Mary Poppins, Pete’s Dragon, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Robin Hood, and others.
So here’s what it looks like:
We start with chili so there are some veggies in the mix, then move on to cheese and crackers, chips and salsa (and guac if we have it), strawberries, grapes, pretzels, and meatballs.
These meatballs are a huge hit with the adorables. They are the Costco frozen kind marinated in Trader Joe’s Soyaki sauce = DEEE-lish.
Obviously. (And boy he needs a haircut.)
And just in case you were wondering what kind of a crazy person I am for allowing my adorables eat in the family room…
We make them stand on this splat mat. I actually don’t know where I would be in this world without this thing. I use it for everything: haircuts (the Running Man is a pro), art, meals, tea parties, and on and on. I can’t find it online anywhere right now for you, but I’ll keep looking…
We’ll bring it all out tomorrow night and the adorables will clap and dance. I’m thinking Cinderella…
Have a great weekend y’all!

on January 9, 2010 6:32 amWe serve picnic-style sometimes, too! Usually it’s just a snack, but the kids think it’s a great treat. What a fun tradition!
