Spooktacular Snacks

October 23, 2012

written by Cathy Baker, mom of two amazing girls, living in the Missouri Ozarks

With Halloween just about a week away, I thought you might enjoy these fun snacks!  I thought some of these would be fun for class parties, your own Halloween party, or even to pack as a surprise in their lunches.

Aren’t these candy corn marshmallow peeps just adorable?! Directions to make them can be found here at Knead to Cook.

A healthier option for halloween treats.. pineapple on bottom, oranges in the middle, topped with whipped cream.

Here’s a healthier candy corn snack — pineapple, mandarin oranges and whipped topping. I saw these at The Butterfly Jungle blog.

Candy corn sugar cookies for Halloween.

Obviously, I’m a tad smitten with Candy Corns!! But how adorable are these sugar cookies from Kathie Cooks blog?!

so simple and cute!

My daughter’s class loved making these acorns last year at the class party. Hershey Kiss, Vanilla Wafer and Butterscotch chip. All held together with frosting.

'boo mix'+ printable topper

You can’t get much easier than this! Throw it all together for a snack that is certain to get some ‘eeewwws’ and giggles! Sandy Toes and Popsicles even has a free printable topper that you can attach to the top of a ziploc baggie!

Pumpkin poop. The kiddos are so getting this!

So, maybe I fibbed, maybe it can get easier! Seriously, just cheese puffs in a bag to make ‘pumpkin poop’!  These cute toppers had been for sale on etsy, but unfortunately, are no longer available.  I still thought it wouldn’t be too hard to make your own Pumpkin Poop label for the bags…do you think they will dare to eat it?

I know this is more of a meal than a snack, but I  made these Spaghetti and Eyeballs for our Halloween dinner a couple of years ago and thought they turned out really cute. After the meatballs are finished cooking, you cut off an end of some string cheese, and set it on the meatball to melt, then stick an olive slice on top of that.  How easy is that?! If your cheese isn’t melting fast enough, you could put them back in the oven for a few moments.

Love all of these! I am so making the spagettti – love. And the acorns – so cute! These are great thanks for sharing. A couple of years ago I was looking for just this and all I could find was really scary stuff – my guys dont like the super scary stuff (me too!) but these are perfect.

I love all of these!!!! My favorite is the fruit and whipped cream. I wanted a fun dessert for Halloween night and this definitly fits the mold, so to speak. The bags of candy are great for classes too. Thanks!!! 🙂
