Sailboat Regatta
October 5, 2010It’s that time of year again – the Sailboat Regatta at our local park.
This is our third year of entering a boat, and this year we were lucky that our awesome neighbor (who has all the tools, saws, gadgets you can possibly imagine) helped us with our boat.
Final decoration provided by my eldest.
Here’s the best shot of the boat. Elder adorable was itching to get to his buddies he had spotted.
So we checked in and picked our heat. There are about 12 heats to choose from – homemade boats vs. purchased, by age, by size of boat, etc.
(The age category cracks me up because I doubt there are very few 0-7 year olds who actually had anything to do with the creation of their boat. This is Daddy’s fun, kiddos.)
And my adorables spent much of the day up trees.
But come race-time, it’s all business. See what I mean about the Daddios?
And they’re off! We’re the square sail there in the foreground. The object, in case you were wondering, is just to get across the pond.
In reality, very few do.
But the effort, oh the effort.
Running Man reports that this was the best boat yet (thanks Al!).
Cue up the John Mellancamp “Small Town” because I just LOVE living here!
What were you up to this past weekend?
