April 2, 2010A very happy Home Tour Friday to you!
Today we’re headed to Bluffview, an upscale community north of Dallas, Texas to see a modern home awash in minimalistic elegance.
Characteristic of Texas Hill Country homes, this home incorporates local massive Texas limestone blocks, a standing seam metal roof, a dry stack stone wall at entry, and a deep-shaded back porch (you’ll see that at the end).
Here’s a good look at those massive limestone blocks. This room requires few adornments, don’t you think?
These stairs let the light shine in. You’ll notice the various walls of glass in this home.
Living room too showcases a wall of glass. I love the two-hued detail in the limestone walls. The variation makes it more interesting.
The kitchen. I just love a bar where everyone can gather to watch the happenings. People feel the most welcome and casual here, and thus why everyone crowds in the kitchen for parties.
Or maybe just because the food is there.
Or maybe that’s just me.
The family room here. I love this sofa with the corner ottoman in case you need make your escape through the middle – clever idea!
Here’s the rear of the home with the pool. You can see the kitchen and family room are in one long line opening to the pool.
Special thanks to Stephen Chambers of Stephen B. Chambers Architects, Inc. for this gorgeous home tour.
Schematic and design development provided by Ralph Hawkins, FAIA, LEED AP, and HKS, Inc.
