Roadtrip from the Adorable’s Seat
November 21, 2009Disclaimer: I’ve had these for a while, but then I would have had to download them from my little camera to use them here. Note to camera companies: it would so amazing if you could develop a way to make all the photos appear on my computer without me having to do anything. Better yet, magically make prints appear from my camera. But just the ones I want, not all the junk ones. I know, I know. Like I said, it is “magic”.
Ever wonder what is interesting to a 4-year-old adorable on a 2-day roadtrip?
After 20 minutes of driving from our home, we hit a roadblock of traffic in the Bronx. Think 2 hour roadblock, which was such a major bummer when you have 2 days of driving in front of you. The Running Man and I ventured off the highway, thinking it had to be better. It wasn’t, but at least there were different things to see out the window.
When my elder adorable claimed boredom, I handed him our small digital and asked him to have at it.
And this is what I got. Buildings,
Traffic cones, (what are these called exactly?)
Signs,
And Backyardigans on the big screen.
Now here’s where it gets exciting:
Can you guess what has created this sense of excitement in my 4-year-old??
Yep, it’s that magical place, McDonald’s.
Oh have mercy. The Running Man and I were alerted to every one from Connecticut to Florida. The younger adorable is actually the worse culprit.
Isn’t this a beautiful parking garage?
Perhaps this one is better.
And back to the Backyardigans. That’s the Running Man and I trying to consult our navigation system to get us out of this mess.
Tall-ish building…
But nothing beats driving with trains running directly over your head.

on November 21, 2009 8:34 amI imagine I’d get much of the same from my kiddos if I’d had that idea on our last roadtrip. You know, the one where I packed the Pocketdoodles for Kids that I won, and when I was ready to pull it out for a boredom buster, it was gone! Turns out, the kiddos pulled it our of the big red bag (that we always use for their blankets, snacks, and things to do) and stuffed it in my son’s backpack – which we didn’t take on the trip… Gah! So – still no doodles and no review… But I’ll be back….

on November 22, 2009 8:47 amActually, I was at Best Buy a couple of weeks ago and saw a quick video about a new product called eye-fi memory cards that will upload photos wirelessly to your computer. I have to research it a bit more, but I think I know what is going to be on my Christmas list. =)

You HAVE to get the Eye-Fi. I bought one in 2008 and it changed my photo-taking life. I love it.

on November 22, 2009 9:19 amIt’s a wireless memory card that automatically uploads to your computer and — even better! — to any sharing site you specify (e.g., Shutterfly, KodakGallery, Facebook, etc). No more sitting in front of your computer and doing it all manually. Poof– it just happens. 🙂
