Pumpkins! (Alternatives to Carving!)
October 2, 2012written by Cathy Baker, mom of 2 ‘tween daughters, living in the Missouri Ozarks
Oh the month of pumpkins has arrived!! We’ve always carved our pumpkins. My husband and I carved pumpkins even before we had kids. And we’ve been helping our girls carve theirs since they were born. But lately I’ve seen some really fun alternatives to carving. Check these out!
I loved this idea from Martha Stewart of using a power drill so much, I actually tried this technique last year. It was so easy and super cute!
And who doesn’t love Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head Pumpkins?!
Use puffy paint to make designs like these found at Think Crafts.
If you have any princesses in your life, who wouldn’t love a glitter pumpkin from Brunch at Saks blog?!
Let these painted pumpkins from Better Homes & Gardens inspire your creative side to paint!
Cookie cutters!? Who knew?! Step by Step directions can be found at Fresh Home Ideas. If you are wanting to try this, and need some cookie cutters, check out these cute Wilton Halloween ones at Amazon.
And I know these involve a little bit of carving, but I couldn’t leave out these little pumpkins! {Source: Martha Stewart}
So while you are at the pumpkin patch this fall, pick up an extra pumpkin or two and try one of these fun ideas!

on October 13, 2012 6:43 amI just did the Mr Potato Head one and the babies loved that they could help. Thanks! It was hard to get them through so I used a metal skewer to make a hole first and then asked what should go there. Loved this! 🙂
