Momma’s Dancing!
July 25, 2013written by Cathy Baker, mom of two sweet tweens, who are currently at camp this week!
Yes, this momma is dancing!
My two adorables have been at camp all this week! And It has been a much needed break!!
I love spending time with them in the summer – vacation, completing our A to Z fun list, etc. But I think it’s safe to say that a break away from each other has been a good thing at this point in the summer!
Here they are just before we left them at camp…
So, what have I been doing this week?
1. Most importantly, eating out every night!! Yum!! Which included eating Andy’s Frozen Custard one night for dinner, especially since they just came out with my summer favorite – Key Lime Pie – that’s a whole slice of pie whipped up inside some of the best custard ever!
2. I submitted a story to www.causepub.com to (hopefully) get published in a book called “Couch Rebels”.” It is scheduled to be released next month! If you want to read (and vote!) for my story, you can read it here, A Mosaic Heart.
I think Couch Rebels is going to be nothing short of inspirational AND each book sold will provide 3 people clean drinking water for an entire year through a partnership with Blood:Water Mission! And for only $9.99, what a great deal! You can pre-order this book here, if you are interested.
3. We decided to surprise the girls with a Beach-y Bathroom Makeover while they were away at camp. This has been a fun little project to do together and I can’t wait to see the girl’s faces when they get home. 🙂
My favorite part of the project is the tile my husband put around our basic mirror — it turned out just how I pictured it would (glimpse of it in top left corner)! And I finally found something to do with all the shells I’ve collected over the years!
4. I also got another order in my little etsy shop, CelebratingTheMoment, so that was fun to make, package and send out. She ordered the above tiles as a thank you gift for her clients at work. I also checked out a few shops around town to see about the possibility of selling some of my upcycled scrabble items locally.
(p.s. Good Stuff Guide readers can always get 10% off with code GSG10)
5. And tomorrow…my husband is taking the day off and we are going floating down the river!! It’s quite a popular activity around here. I don’t like going on the weekends because it can get quite rowdy (think College Frat Party). But during the week, it’s much quieter and so much fun to just be together, lost in another world on the river. Last year, the newspaper published this article I wrote about floating.
This is the longest break we’ve ever had away from our girls, and I won’t lie, it’s been really nice!!
Do your kids go to any camps in the summer? What do you do to appreciate the break?

on July 25, 2013 10:05 pmI am SO jealous! I’ve been threatening my boys with day camp so mom and dad can have a little peace and quiet. I do love them, but some days camp sounds really, really good! A float down the river sounds like just the perfect way to spend the day. 🙂
