Logging Miles and Collecting States
December 29, 2009I have a goal that by the time they are 18, the adorables will have visited all 50 states. Lofty, I know, but we’re big on road trips around here. To keep track, I log all of our travels in the kids’ individual atlases.
You can find them at any Wal-Mart, Target or here: Rand Mcnally 2010 the Road Atlas: United States / Canada / Mexico (Rand Mcnally Road Atlas: United States, Canada, Mexico)
I have a big sticky note with all 50 states listed on the full U.S. map, so I can cross them off as we visit.
Then I take a highlighter to the individual state maps and mark our routes. This is our home state, so we’ve covered a lot of ground here. I also use the big sticky notes on other state pages, when I want to keep track of the dates or itineraries when we have visited a state multiple times.
I keep the atlases, the highlighter, and the sticky notes together in a drawer, so when we return home from somewhere it’s all ready to go.
Happy Travels!
