Seaside Modern
October 29, 2010Today we’re heading out to the great Pacific to see a gorgeous contemporary home.
Located on beautiful Monterey Bay, this four-bedroom, 3500-square foot home was built for a retired couple with grown children.
What a fabulous place to visit!
And a drop-dead stunning view. Love the wall of glass, and this modern, yet comfortable furniture.
Kitchen is super-sleek.
What a gorgeous place to breakfast, and in the evening, to watch the sun set.
Another look at the stunning kitchen. (love the army dude.)
Not even sure where to start here.
Ahhhh….
Why don’t we see more of this? The wine cellar IN the dining room.
Perhaps is this because no kids live here??
Did you just die? This photo sold the home for me. LOVE, love, love the yellow shock-of-color chairs. Oh, and the built-in barbeque. Oh, and the fireplace. Oh, and that majestic view.
The home is actually separated into two primary structures (the front where the couple live, naturally, with the ocean views). 3 additional bedrooms and a studio comprise the rear structure. (BRILLIANT idea to save on energy when not in use.) These separate structures frame a landscaped courtyard with lap pool and built-in barbecue.
A minimal palette ties the entire composition together and includes steel-troweled stucco, exposed concrete block, and Rheinzink, a Titanium zinc for roofing and facade cladding (I had to look that up).
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!
Many thanks to Ehrlich Architects of Culver City, CA for sharing their work with us.
Stunning photography by Matthew Millman.
Happy, happy (and safe!) Halloween weekend to you.
