City Living
October 30, 2009Hello Friday! Where have you been all week?
Today we’re visiting a family loft apartment on the upper west side of New York City near Columbia University. Boasting 1800 square feet and 2 young adorables in residence, utilization of space is most imperative.
Here’s what this hallway tells us: this space is going to be clean, sleek and contemporary.
And it is!
Watch how this room transforms…
Voila! The media center was incognito. Aren’t those light fixtures killer?
I love the simplicity of this art against the brick wall.
I really love the brick wall.
A private office space is created with this same translucent wall.
As we move around the apartment, the same elements are repeated.
Look at this spot for the adorables! The wall unit rocks. (I’m biased: I have the same one.)
Love the peak at the tiled wall in the bathroom.
And finally…
Makes my day!
Many thanks for this tour to Gideon Gelber and Ben Ascher of design firm, studio g&a. Ben was also the architect on the project.
Many thanks for use of the photos to Eliott Kaufman.
Have a great weekend everyone!

on October 30, 2009 2:37 pmI think it’s only for the photos. I’m sure that play area looks like mine every other day. You should see my house right now… (rather, that’s why you don’t!)
