Brilliant Author Series: Robert McCloskey
August 24, 2009
There are some authors that deserve a prominent place in your home library. Robert McCloskey is one of these authors. His work defines classic children’s literature: brilliant, well written stories accompanied by beautiful illustrations. He won the coveted Caldecott Medal for Time of Wonder and Make Way for Ducklings. His Journey Cake, Ho!, One Morning in Maine, and Blueberries for Sal won Caldecott Honors.
These books are a snapshot of time gone by, heartwarming and wholesome.
1
Make Way for Ducklings
Make room for this book! Follow the famous ducklings of Boston on their expedition to the Public Garden.
2
Blueberries for Sal
An adorable tale of Sal and her mother picking blueberries at the same time as a young bear cub and her mother.
3
One Morning in Maine
Consistently a favorite at our home. The soft lilt induces sleep better than any singing I could ever produce. A winner!
5
Burt Dow, Deep-Water Man
I love Burt Dow and his whales. I can just picture this quintessential Maine seaman.
