The Gift of a Moment
September 18, 2012written by Cathy Baker, mom of two ‘tween daughters, living in the Missouri Ozarks
Moments. What is it about a moment? There are so many quotes I love about moments. I’ve kinda collected them over the years. So here are just a few for you today…
- Enjoy this moment, for this moment is your life.
- Collect moments, not things.
- Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.
- We do not remember days, we remember moments. (Paveso)
And here is my favorite video. I watch it at least a couple of times a year. It is so beautiful. I hope you find time to watch this today!
Update 9.20.12: For some reason, when we initially posted the video, it disappeared, sorry about that. Here is the link to it, if you’d still like to check it out!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhOUaszMGvQ
If I could give you a gift today, It would be like the video says, a chance to slow down, to pause, and awake to some of the moments that make your life so beautiful!

on September 20, 2012 9:30 pmHave to say, sometimes videos like this kinda freak me out. I panic, thinking “oh no, what am I missing? What am I going to kick myself for leaving out later?” I swear I utter the words, “Let’s Go, let’s go, let’s go” about a thousand times a day.

on September 22, 2012 11:14 pmHeidi, what if it’s not about remembering everything, all the time? Maybe it’s just about pausing sometimes to remember the good stuff? Small snip-its here and there to carry with us on our journey. And besides, I think the summer you had with them and wrote about, was filled with these moments! Some seasons yield the opportunity more than others. I think as moms we will always have some “I wish I would of…” moments, but I think it’s more important to focus on “I’m glad we had/did…” moments.
