Geotrax – You Rock My World
August 3, 2009Forget the adorables. (Well, for a second here.) We really bought the train system for me. I was so excited to organize track and play with trains. Make little towns. Move cargo.
So I did some research. And I spent a lot of sleepless nights dreaming of trains. And, yes, I really am that scary.
Brio is fine, but not very exciting.
Thomas is all wood and more interesting, but seriously an investment. And not battery-powered.
And then I found IT:
GeoTrax by Fisher-Price. After this I was toast.
We’re way past train tables. Think half a room! (It’s in the basement.)
All these pieces do something: the water tower water goes up and down, the crane actually moves around, etc. The trains and their remotes each take AAA batteries and this power runs the whole set. (We have a lifetime supply.)
And when I didn’t think it could get any better, the Fisher-Price people made my day by adding AIR!
So this airplane flies around on this blue strip, controlled by a remote and it ROCKS! No, seriously rocks.
And then the airplane even flies through the barn’s doors. Yes, I’ll wait while you take a few deep breaths and catch up. Because that is FUN. These adorables don’t even know how good they have it with these amazing toys.
Bridges, drawbridges, factories.
And this Mile High Mountain that I was psyched to *win* on eBay.
Here’s the thing of it: Fisher-Price does this crazy thing where they launch something awesome and when they sell out of their initial product, that’s it. They’re done and the product is gone and only found on the used market.
You can find a thriving GeoTrax community on eBay, where I’ve found many of these pieces.
The airport set (3 separate pieces or sometimes packaged as a set) is a little more expensive now, but I would start at ToysRUs or eBay.
Amazon is launching the Pixar Cars themed pieces (I haven’t found them anywhere else): Disney Cars Geotrax
I’m sorry, that just looks so fun to me. Little gas pumpers and everything.
I’m going to get help, I promise.
